DIY Weddings
We LOVE when couples DIY elements of their wedding! Our biggest tip is that while with a DIY wedding you might save money, you never save time. Consider what is most important to you- the potential savings (DIY isn't alwaysssssss cheaper!) or your mental and emotional health right before the big day. |
For example:
If you'd rather relax or handle other important things and you do not want to source, buy, process, arrange, store and transport your wedding florals the 72-24 full hours before your wedding day (and on your day itself!) perhaps invest in a professional florist. Promise they are worth every penny! This couple pictured above DIY'd their reception florals and decor but hired a florist for all the bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages! |
Dresses + Bugs
Good news and bad news for those wearing a dress! Bad news: You will have bugs land on you and if you have layers lace or tulle, they will end up inside your dress too. Good news: They will not show up in photos so don't stress! You will always have a moment to fish them out and if a lady bug lands on you, we will capture as it means good luck ;) |
What happens if it rains?
We want to reassure you that even if it rains, you will still have beautiful, vibrant photos! Overcast skies means even lighting, so outdoor photo spots will look amazing, like this one at R+A's big day! |
Rainy day light is awesome.
Honestly, all we need for great portraits on a rainy wedding day is a porch or a large indoor space with a window. Also, reach out to your venue first to hear their rain plan, then follow up with the rest of your vendors. And yes, this is our clear umbrella and you can absolutely use it for photos! |
Embrace the Rain!
We will absolutely be with you every step of the way to come up with the best photo solutions that we can!. And you may get lucky and be able to capture some rainy day photo magic like we did with these two! |
Glasses: To wear or not to wear?
So...should you wear your glasses on your wedding day. YES. Absolutely you should! You want to look like you right? Promise that even your gorgeous eye makeup will show through your lenses!! But here are some things to think about.... |
Blue Blocker
While it is super helpful in preventing eye fatigue, blue blocker film mayyyyyy show up in your photos depending on the lighting and angle, like seen here on JJ. After looking through countless photos, there is honestly no way of predicting when it will show up. So our advice: don't have blue blocker on your lenses for your wedding day unless you are ok with it showing up in some shots. |
Reflections
Unless you have mirrored lenses (like these fun sunglasses) reflections will likely be very minimal. This is due to the increase in anti-glare tech that glasses have now, plus we ALWAYS wear all black if we know you will be wearing your specs. That makes sure that we for sure won't show up in reflections! |
Unpopular Shoe Opinion
Don't wear heels. There. I said it! Unless you are used to them, you will be miserable wearing them all day. Trust meeeeee. If you are wearing a long dress THEY WILL NOT SHOW and honestly wouldn't you like to be comfortable on your big day, rather than have to change shoes halfway through? We love, love, love when our clients prioritize their comfort because honestly-- that will show through in your smile throughout the day!⠀ |
Signature Scent
Did you know that smell is closely tied to memory in the brain? Definitely invest in a new cologne or perfume to wear for the first time on your wedding day and then every time you wear it in the future, it will bring you back to memories of this day. We actually did this one ourselves and let me tell you it works! |
