Details first!
If we are booked for all day coverage (9+ hours) the very first thing we will photograph will be your attire and personal details! |
We will need:
your attire, shoes, garter, perfume, jewelry, ALL the wedding rings (engagement and wedding bands!), veil, vow books, something borrowed, etc. and any other things you want us to photograph! |
TIP: Keep everything together!
Put all your small details in a box and your attire in one central place all together. That way you keep everything organized so you’re not scrambling to find your stuff when we arrive. Make sure your attire has been unpacked for easy access-- all the tags, stuffing, and plastic removed. |
Wedding Photography Term: Flat Lay
What is a flat lay? Simply put, it is a photo of an object or series of objects, arranged in a pleasing way and photographed from above. That's it! A lot of personal detail photos taken on your wedding day are flat lays! |
But flat lays and detail photos featuring your invites, rings and EXACT wedding florals don’t just happen by luck on your wedding day...
|
They happen if:
· Your getting ready location is at your venue (aka, your florist delivers your flowers to your venue! · And! Your florist delivers before or at the same time as our arrival. · And! We are pals with your florist and they know we do these styles of photos and they set aside flowers for us. |
But what if none of this is the case? No worries! While we are doing getting ready photos, we will do what we can with what is available to us (bringing some little props and styling elements that match your vibe!) and then we will sneak a few reception florals home to do your invitation flat lays the next morning and Photoshop in your rings/other details.
|
Any of the photos featuring rings in boxes or invitations were shot the morning after the wedding at our home. The rings were photographed in the box the day of the wedding with a different background and then the flat lay with the flowers and an empty box were set up the next day in the same lighting conditions. The rings were then added in later during editing, combining two images.

It’s these little extra things that make hiring a pro photographer (and one who really loves their job!) worth it!
